Who Are We?
Coturnicola Colombiana is one of the largest producers of high productivity female quail in the country, currently has 10% of the national market. It began operations on May 13, 2005 in the city of Ibagué and supplies the entire Colombian domestic market. The farm is strategically located allowing delivery of birds of very good vitality, with greater ease to the main quail egg producing farms throughout the national territory.
We produce day-old female quails with perfect phenotype and plumage, Japanese and Korean line, La Soto and California. Fertile quail eggs, quail eggs for human consumption and canned quail eggs. We supply all the equipment for the production of quail eggs, sheds, cages, packaging and we provide integral assistance in the development of any coturamic project, as well as having the line of meat to take advantage of the birds of despatch once they finish their laying cycle.

Our History
The farm of the Colombian Cotúrnicola started in the neighborhood El Salado of Ibagué, in May of the 2005, we began with 600 birds, taking out eggs for the commerce, we were growing and we grew in the production happening to 4200 quails, observing the profitability of the activity and the necessities of the market, we began then to produce our own birds, we started with an incubator for 5. 000 eggs, then we acquired a machine for 22,000 eggs and later three of 44,000 eggs each, to complete our current installation of incubators for 150,000 fertile eggs.
In order to solve the fluctuation of the supply and demand of eggs in the market, and given that its consumption is cyclical during the year, that is, some months it has good demand and others do not, we set up the plant to manufacture the egg, that is how we produce the canned egg since 2018.
And finally, to solve a problem that quail egg producers had, who did not know what to do with the birds when they finished their production cycle, we set up the meat line and with this the farmer no longer has to give away or throw away the birds at the end of their product cycle and it is one more income for them.
Production Process
Of the birds. The fertile eggs are introduced into the incubator for 16 days, from there they go to the hatching machine for three days, the birds are sexed and they pass the females to the warehouses in the east, on the 32nd day they are delivered to the farmers.
From the canned egg. The egg is received at the production plant, washed and disinfected, cooked, the shell is broken, peeled and taken to the production room, depending on the packaging it is immersed in the solution that preserves it.
Why Choose Our Products?
Live quails, because they are very productive and because of their medium size make the activity more profitable, guarantee the genetics and minimum posture percentages of 80% during the year of production.
Canned quail eggs. It is a product that has a guarantee of minimum 6 months useful life, has INVIMA registration, the Pecositos brand is a registered trademark in the SIC and has the highest standards of production.
The equipment for the exploitation of the quails, corresponds to equipment already tested and has a duration of at least 10 years, the bird is kept in optimum conditions and the supply of water is facilitated with automatic drinkers and the supply of food.
Company Achievements
During the 15 years that the company has, we have grown in clients and in production capacity, we have made a horizontal development of all the processes, products and subproducts of the activity, distinguishing itself for being a vanguard company.
We were chosen by Proexport, in the international MiPyme program, we had the support of Procolombia to define all aspects concerning the export of our canned eggs.
The Chamber of Commerce of Ibagué awarded us a distinction for the permanent innovation processes that we brought to the company in 2017, accompanied by an economic contribution.
In the year 2018 we became the first rural company that can franchise in Colombia, thanks to a program of Propaís and the Inter-American Development Bank BID.
In the year 2019 we become allies of the United Nations Development Program UNDP, in the program Sacúdete, being us the suppliers of quails and equipment for coturniculture at a national level, with the program of microfranchises that they lead in Colombia.
We have presented ourselves in the different calls, led by Innpulsa, fondo emprender, the SENA, Colciencias, the ADR; to contribute to the development of the field, with this one that is a practical and profitable activity.
