COLOMBIAN COTURNICOLA MICROFRANCHISES: A BET ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRYSIDE

In order to diversify the economy and support the growth of micro-enterprises in the departments of Meta, Magdalena Medio and Putumayo, an inter-institutional alliance has emerged between ECOPETROL, the National Government and UNDP, in order to execute the SACÚDETE strategy, which seeks to promote entrepreneurship and detonate the productive capacities of the population.

According to this, one of the components of the Entrepreneurship Centers, is the promotion and implementation of microfranchise models in these territories, which consists in that, an entrepreneur (micro-franchisor) with a successful business model and with potential for replication, allows a third party (micro-franchisee), to use its brand under a contract in which both parties benefit, lowering barriers to entry into the business and taking into account all the lessons learned and knowledge accumulated by this entrepreneur during the years of experience operating his business.

This is how the company Coturnicola Colombiana, dedicated to the incubation, breeding, raising and production of fertile quail eggs with high genetic potential, joins the SACÚDETE program, as one of the allied brands to replicate the successful business model, standing out for being an activity with high potential not only in the Colombian market, but also in foreign markets. It is worth remembering that quail meat and eggs from these birds have a promising market in countries such as China, Brazil, Japan, Spain, France and the United States; among these.

Taking into account the market factors mentioned above and the vocation of the regions, the process of microfranchising Coturnicola Colombiana, achieved the implementation of seven points of microfranchising in the municipalities of Guamal – Meta, Catilla la Nueva – Meta, Sabana de torres – Santander, Orito – Putumayo and Valle del Guamuez – Putumayo. Those who have strengthened their agribusinesses through access to productive assets such as cages, feeders, drinkers and birds; in addition to the rights of use of the Colombian Coturnícola brand and the accompaniment, technical assistance, transfer of knowledge and support of the allied institutions; thus shortening the learning curve and providing greater opportunities for sustainability through a profitable and practical solution for the field.
